Position Overview

Summa Health is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a long-term contract assignment at its Akron Campus. The Respiratory Therapist will provide high-quality respiratory care services to patients across various age groups, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered care in an acute care hospital setting.

Required Education & Licensure

• Graduate of an AMA or CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program
• Active Ohio Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
  • Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) must obtain RRT within 120 days of start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA)

Key Responsibilities

• Review and confirm physician orders and assess patient appropriateness for respiratory therapy
• Administer respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and medical gases
• Monitor patient response and tolerance to treatments and document findings in the medical record
• Operate, monitor, and maintain respiratory equipment including ventilators and monitoring devices
• Respond to emergencies and participate in CPR and resuscitation efforts
• Educate patients and families on respiratory procedures and equipment use
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
