Schedule:

• 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 4 × 10-hour shifts (40 hrs/week)
• No call required

Position Summary

Under supervision, the Surgical Technician provides direct support to orthopedic and neuro-spine surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, and functioning as the scrub person throughout surgical cases. This role supports Summa Health’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• National Certification required:
  • NBSTSA (Preferred) or
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
• BLS Certification (Required)
• Recent Operating Room experience required
• Strong knowledge of surgical principles and sterile technique

⚠️ ARRT is NOT required

Preferred Experience

• Orthopedic and/or Neuro-Spine surgical experience
• Familiarity with complex instrumentation and spine procedures
• Experience working in a hospital OR setting

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies
• Function as the scrub person during orthopedic and neuro-spine procedures
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control standards
• Assist surgeons and surgical team members during procedures
• Operate sterilizers and handle surgical instruments safely and effectively
• Adjust operating tables and accessory devices as needed
• Coordinate communication between physicians, nurses, and support staff
• Assist with patient positioning and movement
• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and storage of surgical instruments
• Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and adherence to Summa Health’s patient care standards
