Description
Job Title: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
Shift Options:
- Night – 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Day – 3x12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Schedule: 12-hour Flex (36 or 48 hours accepted)
Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Charting System: EPIC
Scrubs: Any color
Job Type: Travel / Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for a high-volume maternity unit. The ideal candidate will have strong recent L&D experience and be comfortable managing laboring patients and postpartum couplets in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to laboring patients and postpartum couplets
- Monitor fetal heart tracings and maternal vital signs
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Administer medications and IV therapies
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and NICU teams
Staffing Ratios
- 1:1 or 1:2 for labor patients
- 1:3 for postpartum couplets
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years L&D experience
- Not accepting first-time travelers
- Travelers must have 2–5 years recent L&D experience
- EPIC experience required
Certifications & Licensure
- BLS (AHA)
- NRP
- NH RN License or Compact License
Scheduling & Requirements
- Weekend: Every other weekend
- Floating: Only within L&D/Mother-Baby division (no med/surg)
- Call: None
- Hours: 36 or 48 per week accepted
Systems Used

- Documentation: EPIC
- Communication: SBAR
