Description
We are seeking experienced RNs for a travel contract in an acute care setting. This role focuses on delivering competent, compassionate patient care across the lifespan, performing thorough assessments, and meeting the diverse needs of patients, families, and the community. Nurses will manage a variety of medical-surgical telemetry patients requiring monitoring, interventions, and age-appropriate care. Emphasis is placed on initial and ongoing assessments, documentation, and applying knowledge of growth/development to tailor care effectively. Cerner EMR required. 50-mile radius rule applies (must live 50+ miles away; no locals).
Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments on assigned patients, including review of systems, to identify appropriate nursing needs and establish individualized care plans.
- Deliver competent, efficient, and caring patient care while adhering to licensure, certification, training, and regulatory standards.
- Obtain, interpret, and apply information regarding patient needs, growth/development stages, and required treatments across the lifespan.
- Complete admission assessments within established policy timeframes with accurate documentation.
- Monitor telemetry patients, manage common drips (e.g., heparin if applicable), and respond to changes in condition with appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered outcomes and promote a positive experience for patients and families.
Shift
- Day Shift (typically 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
- 3x12-hour shifts
Qualifications
Required:
- Active District of Columbia (DC) RN license (or compact) at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years Med/Surg Tele experience
- Minimum 2 years RN experience overall
- Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
- NIHSS, BLS, ACLS
- Cerner EMR experience
- Live 50+ miles from facility
Preferred:
- BSN
- Strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills
Schedule:
- 3x12-hour day shifts (36 hours/week guaranteed)
- Weekend and holiday rotation as per unit needs (typically every other weekend/holidays)
- No on-call specified
