Description

TRAVEL RN – PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)

Location: Alexandria, LA
Unit: PICU (Cost Center 645)
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Duration: 13 Weeks
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year PICU experience
Radius Rule: 80-mile radius required

Unit Overview – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Beds: 6
Floor: 3rd Floor
Patient Ratios: 1:1–2
Staffing:
- Days: 1 Charge Nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies by census)
- Nights: 1 Charge Nurse + 1 RN/LPN (varies by census)
EMR: Meditech | Pyxis

Equipment Includes:
Alaris IV Pumps, Bair Hugger, Kangaroo Feeding Pump, Giraffe Infant Warmer, Ventilators, BiPAP, High-Flow Oxygen

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of Pediatric ICU nursing experience
Active RN license
Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS

Common Procedures & Skills

Spinal taps
Titration of critical drips (sedation, vasoactive, paralytic)
Sedated MRI
EKG, EEG, Telemetry
Port access and discontinuation
Intubation and extubation

Floating Requirements

May float to NICU (low acuity patients only)
May float to Nursery
May float to OB/GYN if qualified

Scheduling & Other Details

Weekends: Rotating
May be scheduled for mixed days, nights, and weekends as needed
Dress Code: Teal scrubs

Compensation Package

Gross Weekly Pay: $2,520
Weekly Stipend: $1,260
W2 Hourly Rate: $35/hour
