Job Opportunity: RN - OR (Surgery)

Location: Martinsville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

• Acute-care hospital with 220 licensed beds
• Surgery Department (Cost Center 2781)
• 10 Operating Rooms, 4 PACUs, 19 Ambulatory bays, 5 EPS, 9 Endoscopy bays
• Electronic Health Record system: Meditech
• Patient population primarily general surgery cases

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room / Surgery specialty
• Number of Openings: 1
• Shift: Days, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
• Call Requirements: Yes
• Float Requirements: Surgical Services / as needed

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Licensure: Must hold a valid RN license to practice in Virginia
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (PALS available on-site)
• Specialty Experience: 1-2 years of RN experience in Operating Room (OR) required
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Skills & Preferences

• Previous experience as an RN in the Operating Room is a must
• Preferred: High level of adherence to AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) standards
• Personality Fit: Punctual, dedicated, team player, professional demeanor (no drama)

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Scrubs provided; adherence to AORN guidelines on fingernail appearance required
