Med-Surg RN (48 hrs Nights) | ICU Assist | Epic | Michigan

Job Description:
Aspirus Iron River is seeking an experienced Med-Surg RN for a high-acuity night shift role with consistent hours and strong clinical support. This position is ideal for nurses with Med-Surg strength and prior ICU/ER experience who are comfortable assisting in critical care settings when needed.

Contract Details:

• 13 weeks
• 48 hours/week guaranteed
• OT after 48 hours
• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Unit Details:

• 25-bed Med-Surg unit
• Patient population includes CHF, COPD, diabetes, and geriatric care
• Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4–1:5
  • Nights: 1:6 (average)

Floating:

• May float to ICU to assist as needed (support role)

Requirements:
✅ Active Michigan RN license
✅ AHA BLS & ACLS
✅ 2+ years Med-Surg experience
✅ Prior ICU and ER experience required
✅ Strong charting skills
✅ Experience with Epic EMR, Pyxis, CareScape monitors

Scheduling:

• Every other weekend & holiday
• May be low-censused and placed on call (2-hour call-back minimum)
• Orientation week hours not guaranteed

Additional Information:

• Scrubs: Any color
• For winter starts, prior cold-weather contract experience preferred
• Travelers declining flu/COVID vaccines must wear a mask per Aspirus policy
