Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department - Travel

Location: Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Nights 

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Triage & Assessment: Efficiently evaluate incoming patients by obtaining comprehensive medical histories, assessing vital signs, and performing initial clinical assessments to prioritize care.
• Emergency Care Delivery: Act independently to initiate immediate interventions in life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician, ensuring prompt and effective responses.
• Procedural Skills: Perform a wide range of nursing procedures, from basic to complex, utilizing advanced nursing skills to manage acutely ill and non-acute patients.
• Physician Support: Assist physicians with procedures, treatments, and interventions, ensuring smooth and efficient ED operations.
• Patient & Family Comfort: Provide compassionate physical and psychological support to patients, their families, and visitors during stressful and urgent situations.
• Discharge Planning & Education: Deliver clear discharge instructions and follow-up care plans, ensuring patients and families understand their ongoing care needs.
• Prehospital Care & Communication: Respond to ambulance radio calls, provide appropriate prehospital orders independently, and communicate effectively with emergency responders.
• Equipment & Environment Management: Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated medical equipment, maintaining safety and efficiency in a high-stakes environment.
• Care Coordination & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with team members to update and optimize treatment plans, evaluate patient progress, and suggest improvements for patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department (ER) nursing experience is required.
• Travel work experience highly preferred.
• Active and unrestricted MI (Michigan) Nursing License; LARA and/or Nursys verification required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• NRP Certification (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and TNCC Certification (Trauma Nursing Core Course) must be current.
• Recent (within the past 2 years) supervisory reference forms and skills checklists relevant to emergency nursing.
• Strong knowledge of emergency protocols, triage procedures, and advanced life support techniques.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations with composure and professionalism.
• Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius from the facility; local candidates are not considered.
