Position Overview

UNC Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) travel assignment. The CTICU is part of the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care and provides highly specialized, interdisciplinary care for patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions.

This is an excellent opportunity for ICU nurses with strong cardiac and trauma backgrounds to work at a Level I Trauma Center within a nationally recognized academic medical system.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiothoracic patients
• Coordinate and prioritize care using the nursing process
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify expected outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans
• Utilize hospital policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards
• Provide patient and family education appropriate to developmental and cultural needs
• Promote patient safety, cost-effective care, and quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license
• Minimum 2 year of nursing experience
• Level I Trauma experience required
• CTICU-focused experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required

Education Requirements

• Required: Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing program

Schedule Requirements

• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Weekends: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Holidays: Every other holiday (EOH)
• On-call: Not required
