CVICU Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment

Greensboro, NC 27401   Night Shift | 3×12 Hours | 19:00–07:30 | 13 Weeks

Position Overview

A highly experienced CVICU RN is needed for a 13‑week night‑shift assignment caring for complex cardiac and critically ill patients. This role requires strong hemodynamic expertise, advanced device management, and the ability to float across all Cone Health campuses. First‑time travelers are welcome.

Schedule & Shift Requirements

  • Start Date: February 24, 2026
  • Shift: 3×12‑hour nights, 19:00–07:30
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
    • Expectation: 6 full weekends (Sat/Sun) during the 13‑week contract
  • Holidays: As needed
  • Scheduling: Individualized (blocked or other patterns possible)
  • Floating: Required; travelers float first and may float to any Cone Health campus
  • RTO: Must be submitted at time of profile

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience
  • First‑time travelers accepted
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • Dysrhythmia interpretation & management
    • Multi‑system organ failure
    • Post‑cardiac surgery care (direct from OR & non‑OR)
    • Pre/post cardiac cath interventions
    • Pulmonary artery/Swan‑Ganz monitoring
    • CRRT/CVVH (required)
    • Arterial line management
    • Central line & PICC care
    • Blood product administration
    • Starting IVs
    • Continuous IV sedation
    • Titrating cardiac & vasoactive drips
    • Ventilator management
    • BiPAP/CPAP support
    • HFNC
    • Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
    • ABG interpretation
    • Suctioning (ETT, NT)

Preferred Experience

  • SICU background
  • ECMO
  • Intra‑aortic balloon pump (IABP)
  • Sheath removal
  • TAVI/TAVR
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Chronic/acute renal failure management

Medical‑Surgical Cardiac ICU patients including:

  • MI, CHF
  • Post‑cardiac surgery
  • Post‑cardiac cath
  • LVAD, Impella, IABP
  • Arctic Sun
  • Renal failure requiring CRRT
  • Respiratory failure
  • Sepsis
  • Open‑heart surgical patients
  • AAA repair
  • Vascular surgeries
  • ECMO

Required Certifications

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
