Description
Position Summary – Registered Nurse – CVICU @ Baxter Health
- Role: Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) – Travel Contract
- Facility: Baxter Health, 624 Hospital Dr, Mountain Home, AR 72653
- Status: Open – 1 position
- Start Date / Duration: February 23, 2026 – 13 weeks
- Shift: Day, 4 x 12‑hour shifts (07:00–19:00)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36–48 hours per week (1:2 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends)

Unit & Setting
- Unit: 6780 – Intensive Care Unit (CVICU / CSICU)
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care
- Beds: 17 beds, 17 rooms
- Daily Census: ~15 patients
- Patient Ages: Neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics
- Interdisciplinary Support: IV teams, PT, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response, pharmacy
Experience & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years RN experience; CVICU / ICU experience required
- Previous Charge Experience: Required
- Patient Ratio Experience: 1:2
- Travel Experience: Required
- Teaching / Community Hospital Experience: Preferred
- Trauma Level II Experience: Preferred
- Preferred Skills: CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, post‑cardiac surgery (direct from OR), CABG, valve repair/replacement, Swan‑Ganz/CVP monitoring, TAVR, EVD/lumbar drains, hypothermia protocols, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, multisystem organ failure, stroke/CVA, and more
Certifications & Skills
- Required Certifications: BLS (must be active at submission); ACLS required within first 6 months of employment
- Preferred Certifications: ACLS at submission
- Charting System: Cerner (required; experience preferred)
- Key Skills: CVICU care, open‑heart recovery, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips, ventilator management, sheath removal, TAVR, ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, CRRT, EVD, lumbar drains, hypothermia protocols, isolation precautions, wound care, IV therapy, central line/PICC care, blood product administration, procedural sedation monitoring, and more
Scheduling & Commitments
- Scheduling Type: Other (not self‑ or block‑scheduling)
- Float Required: Yes (within ICU/CSICU)
- Call: Not required
- Weekends: Every other weekend (12 weekend shifts over the 13‑week contract)
- Pre‑Approved Time Off: 1 request allowed
Facility & Compliance
- COVID‑19 Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- Flu Vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)
- Safety Sensitive: Yes (per Arkansas Act 593 – medical marijuana)
- Local Radius: 50 miles; local candidates not accepted
- Travel Experience: Highly preferred
Document & Compliance Requirements (Tier 2 Travel)
- SSN required
- RTO required with submission
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, Nursys – all required with submission
- RN license in hand required at submission
- Labs: Must complete required lab items within 72 hours of offer acceptance or have a documented plan
- Hard Documents Due: 3 business days prior to start (flexible case‑by‑case if pending docs/ETAs are communicated to facility contact)

Baxter Health’s 17‑bed ICU/CSICU cares for a broad age range and complex cardiovascular and surgical patients, including open‑heart surgery, CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR, IABP, ECMO, Impella, and advanced therapies. The unit values a collaborative, professional environment and is on its Magnet journey. Nurses must be comfortable with high‑acuity cardiac and post‑op recovery, advanced monitoring, and complex drips, while working closely with an experienced, supportive team.
