Education: Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, and chemistry or HTL certification from recognized agency.
License requirement: Histotechnician AAS NY State license required.
Qualified candidate will assume responsibility for the processing, embedding, cutting and staining of surgical and autopsy tissue, and for preparation and staining of cytopathology specimens according to established policies and procedures for Pathologist's examination and interpretation.
Qualified candidate will be responsible for the correct management of the patient's body tissue which includes preparing microscopic sections for diagnosis by Pathologist as well as documentation and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Histologist will perform specialized, selective techniques required for diagnostic purposes and participate in the Quality Assurance program.
