Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment

Billings, MT   Night Shift | 12 Hours | 36 Hours/Week | 13 Weeks   Start Date: February 23, 2026 End Date: May 23, 2026 Open Positions: 2

Position Overview

The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients, performing both independent and delegated medical functions in alignment with state nursing standards. This role requires strong assessment skills, patient education abilities, and the capacity to support patients throughout labor, delivery, and related care needs. Floating may be required based on facility needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for L&D patients
• Perform ongoing health data collection and patient assessments
• Provide patient teaching, counseling, and emotional support
• Deliver supportive and restorative therapy and treatment
• Execute delegated medical functions within scope
• Refer patients for additional evaluation or treatment as needed
• Monitor and review therapy and treatment plans
• Document care per hospital and regulatory standards
• Utilize resources appropriately to support patient care
• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health
• Float to other units within competency if required
• Participate in on‑call rotation as needed

• Ability to perform all essential L&D nursing duties independently
• Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking skills
• Effective communication and patient‑education abilities
• Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and unit demands

Preferred Experience

• Previous L&D RN experience

Education Requirements

• Required: ASN – Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• Preferred: BSN

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active Montana RN license (or ability to obtain before start)
• BLS – American Heart Association
• Additional certifications as appropriate for L&D:
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • PALS (if applicable to unit)

Preferred Certifications

• Specialty certifications relevant to L&D
