Job Description:
Position Summary
Responsible for the administration of radiation therapy using Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam). Documentation in Meditech and Aria.
Education
Graduate of an approved school of Radiation Therapy
License/Certification/Registration
Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews every two years.
Current registration as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) with the ARRT(T)
Essential Functions
1. Checks diagnosis, prescription, chart and patient identification.
2. Explains planned treatment to patient including means of communication during treatment and procedure to follow if problems arise during treatment.
3. Prepares room and equipment, according to prescription, including immobilization devices, field size, treatment distance, etc.
4. Observes radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
5. Maintains visual audible communications with the patient during treatment.
6. Operates and performs CT simulation procedures/equipment in an effective manner.
7. Performs daily duties in an accurate and timely fashion.
8. Performs patient timeout per department policy.
9. Observes treatment area for skin changes, discusses with patient any unusual side effect or emotional problems being experienced. Notifies physician in charge of same.
10. Assists as necessary with ordering supplies.
11. Maintains complete records as required.
12. Complies with and performs Quality Improvement.
13. Complies with all policies and procedures.
14. Maintains patient markings.
15. Performs scheduling and other clerical duties to maintain efficiency throughout department.
16. Observes radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
17. Performs safety checks on equipment to insure proper functioning, and reports problems to physician in charge and superviso
