Travel Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR RN)

Shift: Days – 3x12s (07:00–19:30; variable start times 7:00 or 9:00)

Requirements

Active RN License (CA) – Pending licenses not accepted
Minimum 2–3 years OR experience required (5 years preferred)
Level I Trauma experience – REQUIRED
BLS Certification (Required)
Travel experience required
Experience in trauma, neuro, vascular, ortho, and general surgery
Weekend and on‑call availability required
First‑time travelers accepted

Staffing Ratios:

• Days: 1 RN : 1 OR (supported by surgical techs)
• Nights: 1 RN / 1 ST or 2 RNs (one scrubbing)

Job Duties 

• Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in a Level I Trauma operating room.
• Scrub and circulate for a wide range of surgical procedures, including trauma, orthopedic, neuro, vascular, general, ENT, plastics, urology, GYN, and robotic cases.
• Assist surgeons during high‑acuity and emergency trauma cases, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and patient safety standards.
• Prepare operating rooms by verifying equipment, instruments, implants, and supplies for scheduled and emergent procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot specialized surgical equipment, including electrosurgical units, cell saver, fiberoptic systems, and robotic platforms such as Da Vinci Xi.
• Perform accurate patient assessments, positioning, time‑outs, specimen handling, and documentation in Epic.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and manage surgical counts per hospital policy.
• Respond to emergency situations, including trauma activations, code responses, and urgent surgical interventions.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, including nights, evenings, and weekends, and float between like units as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
