ICU Registered Nurse (Contract | Quick Start)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a fast-paced critical care environment. This role supports pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients requiring intensive monitoring and specialized ICU/CCU services, including post-surgical, respiratory, and cardiac care.

This assignment requires full schedule flexibility with a mandatory 80 hours every two weeks (no exceptions).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive ICU/CCU nursing care based on patient acuity and individualized needs
• Coordinate and deliver care for critically ill patients, including ventilated patients
• Maintain patient safety with a typical 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio (additional RN support provided for ventilated patients)
• Assist with after-hours PACU recovery as needed
• Float to OB, Medical-Surgical, PACU, and ER units based on competency and staffing needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Unit Details

• 4-bed ICU / 4 private rooms
• ICU/CCU with occasional after-hours PACU recovery
• Emergency Room experience strongly recommended

Schedule

• Must be open to any shift (days, nights, rotating)
• 80 hours every 2 weeks required
• Holiday coverage required

Orientation & Training

• Hospital orientation and in-service training through HR
• Unit-based orientation with Nurse Manager
• Includes 1–2 day shifts and 1–2 night shifts with a staff RN
• Completion of orientation and competency binder required

Requirements

• Active State of Hawaii RN License (must be valid by assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
• Willingness to float to other departments as needed
