Evenings / Nights 5x8 

 

Patient Ratio:

Ratio on nights is 1:6.


Direct care staff are available to provide support 24/7, along with a 24/7 direct care supervisor.
Looking for a 3d shift staff that is looking for a steady assignment with the potential to extend if they desire.
Must be able to work independently.


Job Overview:
As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Newport Academy, you will play a key role in the physical and emotional well-being of adolescent patients. You will work collaboratively with our clinical team to provide top-tier care for teens, guiding them on their journey toward recovery. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining a therapeutic environment and ensuring that each patient receives the highest level of medical care.



Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and conducting health assessments.
Monitor and document patients’ physical and mental health conditions, updating the care team on any changes in status.
Collaborate with therapists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans for adolescents.
Offer support and education to patients and their families, addressing medical concerns, treatment plans, and overall well-being.
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Respond to medical emergencies, providing interventions and calling for additional medical assistance when needed.
Ensure a safe and supportive environment, particularly in managing the needs of adolescent patients dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.
Participate in regular team meetings to provide input on patient care and treatment strategies.
Act as a role model and provide emotional support to adolescents during their treatment.


Qualifications:

Current RN licensure in the state of Connecticut.
At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in a psychiatric, behavioral health, or adolescent care setting.
Strong knowledge of adolescent health, mental health disorders, and substance abuse.
Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to providing quality care for adolescents.
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, physicians, and family members.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of patients and the facility.


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working in an adolescent treatment or residential care setting.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and crisis intervention.
