Location: Plattsburgh, New York

Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience for a travel contract assignment. The role involves providing respiratory care across hospital floors with flexibility to support nursery and emergency room as needed.
Required Qualifications
- License: New York State Respiratory Therapist license or proof of application with applied date at time of submission (NY licensing process takes 6-8 weeks).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience required.
- Specialty Experience: At least some experience or exposure to neonatal/pediatric population; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EMR Experience: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is mandatory.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.
Work Details
- Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, day (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and night (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM) rotations.
- Schedule: Flexible scheduling with every other weekend required; no block schedules.
- Orientation: 2 days.
- Floating: Required to float to hospital floors, nursery, and ER as needed.
- Patient Population: Neonate to adult (age range 0-100+).
- Equipment: Experience with Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV1200 ventilators.
- Dress Code: Scrubs in black or ceil blue; closed, non-skid shoes; minimal jewelry; groomed hair/beard (no beard for N95 mask fit).
Additional Requirements & Information
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle transportation required (public transportation not accessible).
- Must comply with hospital dress code and infection control policies.
- Documentation system: EPIC; Medication system: Pyxis.
- Background checks, education verification, and multiple health and safety documents required prior to start.
- Must complete required facility-specific modules and trainings before assignment start.
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination required.
- N95 fit test required prior to assignment and annually.
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season.
- Physical exam within 12 months required.
- Drug testing required for New York facilities.
Patient Care Environment
- Trauma Level 2 hospital.
- Teaching facility.
- Patient care involves neonates through adults.

- Assignment duration up to 16 weeks.
- Flexible schedule to meet unit and patient care needs.
- Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days.
- All clinical work history must be detailed including bed count, EMR, and facility type.
