Radiologic Technologist
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiologic Technologist to join our imaging team. This role is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, performing diagnostic radiologic procedures as ordered by physicians, and providing excellent patient care while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and professionalism.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Experience
- One (1) year of experience preferred in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office performing radiologic procedures
Licensure / Certification
- Current ARRT registration in Radiology
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per American Heart Association guidelines (renewed every two years)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Knowledge of radiologic equipment, procedures, and radiation safety practices
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, physicians, and staff
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues
- Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
Essential Functions
Patient Care & Technical Duties
- Greet and escort patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth)
- Review imaging orders for appropriateness and accuracy
- Explain procedures in a clear, patient-friendly manner
- Prepare and position patients correctly for examinations
- Select appropriate techniques and obtain accurate diagnostic images
- Operate CR, DR, and fluoroscopy equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist radiologists and fluoroscopy technologists during procedures
- Perform portable radiography in areas including Emergency Department, Operating Room, PACU, and nursing units
- Utilize proper sterile technique when required
- Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media as needed
- Recognize, respond to, and document contrast reactions per protocol
- Document patient history, symptoms, imaging limitations, and exam details in PACS
- Transfer images to PACS, scan documents, and route studies appropriately
- Change exam priority to STAT or URGENT when indicated
Safety & Quality
- Maintain radiation safety practices following ALARA standards
- Perform equipment start-up, shutdown, and basic maintenance
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked
- Participate in quality assurance activities as assigned
Clerical & Support Duties
- Monitor workflow using PACS, image release systems, and CD burners
- Perform clerical and office tasks as needed, including off-shift coverage
- Assist with department operations and office functions
- Explain policies, procedures, and clerical processes to radiology students as directed
Non-Essential Functions
- Perform other related and miscellaneous duties as assigned
