An ACTIVE and CURRENT HAWAII Social Worker License is REQUIRED to be considered.

Candidates must already hold a valid Hawaii license
Accepted licenses: LBSW, LMSW, or LCSW

Candidates without an active Hawaii Social Worker license will NOT be submitted.

Position Overview
This position is located in the Social Services Department at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH). SMMH is part of the Kauai Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawaii operating 12 healthcare facilities statewide.

The Social Worker provides professional psychosocial services to patients/residents and their families. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, psychotherapy, family therapy, and comprehensive case management. The role also involves coordination with physicians, hospital staff, and external agencies, ensuring compliance with State and Federal guidelines. Travel to other facilities within the Kauai Region may be required.

Key Responsibilities
Provide crisis intervention and psychosocial assessments
Deliver individual, family, and group psychotherapy
Perform comprehensive case management and discharge planning
Assist with referral and admission processes for new patients
Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and community agencies
Provide technical guidance to hospital staff on case handling
Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations
Travel between facilities within the region as required

Education & Experience Requirements

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program
Master’s degree preferred

Experience:
Minimum 1 year of professional social work experience
Healthcare setting experience preferred
Must demonstrate the ability to manage complex and high-acuity cases

Licensure & Additional Requirements
ACTIVE Hawaii Social Worker License (LBSW, LMSW, or LCSW) – REQUIRED
Valid driver’s license preferred
