Job Title: Surgical Technician

Shift: 06:30 – 17:00

Job Summary

• The Surgical Technician – NCA assists members of the healthcare team in delivering safe, effective patient care during the intra-operative period.
• This role focuses on the preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, as well as providing direct assistance to the surgeon during procedures.
• The Surgical Technician provides care across the full patient lifespan (neonate through geriatric) and applies age-appropriate practices based on patient needs.
• The position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced surgical environment, and prompt response to urgent or emergent situations.
• A working knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic technique, and the metric system is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and positive surgical outcomes.
• Prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeons during operative procedures by anticipating needs and providing appropriate instrumentation and supplies.
• Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts accurately and consistently in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with professional standards of surgical technology practice.
• Recognize and respond promptly to urgent or emergency situations in the operating room.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure optimal patient care.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Demonstrated experience in the following specialties:
  • Orthopedics
  • Spine
  • General Surgery
  • Urology
  • Vascular
  • Gynecology
• Experience with DaVinci robotic surgical systems.

Education Requirements

• Required: High School Diploma or GED

Certifications & Licensure

• Required:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Language Requirements

• English (Speak, Read, Write)

Schedule Details

• Shift Hours: 06:30 – 17:00
• On-Call: Rotational call coverage, approximately 1 day per week and 1 weekend every 6 weeks
