Specialty Cath Lab RN (with EP & IR exposure) Interventional Cardiology • Interventional Radiology • Vascular • Structural Heart • Electrophysiology Unit Overview Unit: Cath Lab, EP & IR Rooms: 3 Cath/IR rooms + 1 Hybrid OR Avg. Cases/Day: 15–20 (varies by day) Teams: 3–4 staff per room (4-person teams for call) Required Certifications RN License BLS & ACLS (AHA only) Patient Population / Case Types Interventional Cardiology: Diagnostic caths, PCI, device implants Structural Heart: TAVR, MitraClip, LAA closures, PFO closures, balloon valvuloplasty Vascular: AAA/EVAR, TCAR, carotid angiograms/stents, peripheral interventions Interventional Radiology: Ports, feeding tubes, dialysis catheters, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, vertebroplasty Electrophysiology: Cardiac ablations, pacemaker/ICD implants RN Job Duties Circulate cases Administer medications and moderate sedation Monitor patients throughout procedures Scrub or monitor if trained Assist with high-acuity interventional procedures Experience Requirements Preferred: 2–3 years Cath Lab + IR experience Vascular and/or structural heart experience strongly preferred Experience reviewed case-by-case during interview EMR & Equipment EMR: Cerner Hemodynamic System: Merge Imaging Equipment: Philips (all rooms) Additional Equipment: Impella, IABP, Rotablator, CSI, AngioJet, Laser atherectomy, IVUS, OCT, FFR, CO₂ angiography Schedule & Call Shifts: 4×10s (Mon–Fri) with 1 weekday off Regular Hours: 0700–1730 Call: 7–10 call days/month 1 weekend/month (Fri 1730 – Mon 0700) Response time: 30 minutes Holidays: 1 summer + 1 winter holiday (may include call) Other Details Floating: Rare; may assist as helping hands if needed Scrubs: Provided by hospital (change on-site) Orientation (RN): 1 day hospital orientation 2 days department-specific orientation
