Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to support the ETC Admitted Patients unit. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment ideal for confident ED nurses who excel in rapid assessment, prioritization, and critical decision-making.
Position Summary
The ED RN provides comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages, managing a wide range of medical and trauma conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to multitask under pressure, and recent emergency department experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to emergency department patients across the lifespan
- Rapidly assess, triage, and prioritize patients with physical and mental health conditions
- Respond to trauma and emergent situations requiring quick, decisive action
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Monitor patient conditions and adjust care as needed
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Float within the facility to like units as required
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 18 months of ED nursing experience
- ED experience within the past 6 months required
Licensure & Certifications
- Active New Jersey RN license or multi-state compact license
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- PALS
- Telemetry
- NIHSS
- 4 hours CEU Contact Stroke
Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and analytical abilities
- Ability to manage high patient ratios in a busy ED setting
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Schedule & Unit Details
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM β 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- 3 of 6 holidays required
- No on-call required
- Patient ratios: 1:6+
- Busy, high-volume emergency department
