Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to support the ETC Admitted Patients unit. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment ideal for confident ED nurses who excel in rapid assessment, prioritization, and critical decision-making.

Position Summary

The ED RN provides comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients of all ages, managing a wide range of medical and trauma conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to multitask under pressure, and recent emergency department experience.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to emergency department patients across the lifespan
Rapidly assess, triage, and prioritize patients with physical and mental health conditions
Respond to trauma and emergent situations requiring quick, decisive action
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
Monitor patient conditions and adjust care as needed
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Float within the facility to like units as required

Required Qualifications

Experience

Minimum 18 months of ED nursing experience
ED experience within the past 6 months required

Licensure & Certifications

Active New Jersey RN license or multi-state compact license
BLS (AHA)
ACLS
PALS
Telemetry
NIHSS
4 hours CEU Contact Stroke

Skills

Strong clinical assessment and analytical abilities
Ability to manage high patient ratios in a busy ED setting
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Schedule & Unit Details

36 hours per week
12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Every other weekend required
3 of 6 holidays required
No on-call required
Patient ratios: 1:6+
Busy, high-volume emergency department
