Beds: 25
Minimum Experience: 1.5 – 2 years at a PCU level of care or higher

Medical Surgical / Ortho / Step Down
Patient Ratios:
1:5-6 - please make sure RN is aware of the ratios BEFORE submitting
Required Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required
Cardiac monitoring, basic drips – Bumex, Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin and
at times vasopressive agents
Education required:
Minimum ADN, prefer BSN
Support on the Unit:
CNA (Ratio: ) 8-10
Receptionist/HUC: 1/Days shift
Charge nurse: 1 per shift
Phlebotomy? In house 24/7
IV/VAT Team? No
Resource Nurse: No
RT: In house 24/7
Hospitalist: Inhouse dayshift – tele medicine hospitalist 7pm – 7 am.
ED Physician 24/7 – responds to all codes/rapid response at night
Telemetry monitoring: No

EMR: Evident/CPSI
IV pumps: Abbott/ICU Medical Plum Pumps
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Monitors: Mindray

Weekend rotation: every third weekend
Call required: None scheduled; if low censused, requires 6 hours on-call
