Travel Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Night Shift)

 Location : Charlotte, NC 28204

  • Department: Labor & Delivery

  • Medication System: Pyxis
  • Communication: SBAR

 

Contract Details

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Unit will accept 13–26 weeks)
  • Shift: Night Shift – 3x12s
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours (48s not recommended due to unit acuity)

     

 

Unit Overview

This is a VERY FAST-PACED, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with high acuity patients. The unit averages:

  • ~20 births per 24 hours
  • 30–40 admissions per day
  • ~40 OB triage visits per day
  • 20 L&D rooms

 

Schedule & Weekend Requirements

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Weekend Shifts: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Call Requirement: None
  • Pre-Approved Time Off: 1 request allowed

 

Floating Requirements

  • Floating:Yes
  • May float within the Women’s Unit, including:
    • Special Maternity Care (High-Risk OB)

 

Experience Requirements (HARD STOPS)

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years Labor & Delivery – REQUIRED (Hard Stop)
  • Preferred: 3+ years
  • Travel Experience:  Not required
    • First-time travelers accepted
    • Must have experience in a large / high-volume, fast-paced setting

 

Required Certifications

  • BLS (AHA)
  • NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate
    • OR will accept C-EFM in lieu of AWHONN

Preferred Certifications

  • AWHONN Advanced

 

Required Skills & Competencies

Core Labor & Delivery Skills

  • Labor & Delivery management
  • High-risk antepartum care
  • LDRP experience
  • Sterile vaginal exams
  • OB triage and patient assessment
  • Immediate newborn care

Job Details & Expectations

  • Ratios: 2:1
  • Unit Acuity: Higher than typical L&D units
  • Pace: Extremely busy and high turnover
  • 48-hour contracts: Not recommended due to workload

 

Orientation

  • Orientation Hours: 24 hours

 

Scrubs

  • Scrubs Provided: Blue
