Description
Job Summary
- Department: PCU
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Radius Rule & Employment Restrictions
- Radius rule: 50 miles
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Driver’s license will be used to determine if the candidate lives outside the 50-mile radius
Fingernail Policy
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care
- Refusal to remove artificial nails will result in termination of contract
Orientation & Exams
- RNs must pass a Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation
- Exam is open book
- Exam covers skills learned during orientation
- All necessary resources are provided
- Minimum passing score required is 90%
- Failure to achieve 90% will result in termination
Unit Details
- Number of beds: 35
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4–5
Patient Population / Common Diagnoses
- Adult and geriatric patients
- Cardiac
- Nephrology
- Strokes
- Diabetes Mellitus (DM)
- Continuous EEG monitoring
Drips
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- Common titratable and/or set-rate drips include:
- Cardizem
- Beta blockers
- Seizure medications
Staffing
- Charge nurse present on each shift
- Charge nurse does not take an assignment
- Nurse aides/patient care techs are available
- Nurse aide/patient care tech ratios:
- 1:10
- 2:20
Shifts & Scheduling
- Day shift: 0630–1900
- Night shift: 1830–0700
Weekend & Holiday Requirements
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Every third holiday
Call Requirements
- No call or standby requirement
Floating Requirements
- Medical floors
- ICU
- Rehab
Orientation Length
- First week is onboarding
- Followed by 1–2 days of unit-specific floor orientation

- This is a fast-paced unit

Time-Off (RTO) Policy
- RTO must be submitted upfront
- Maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract
- Additional RTO will not be approved
