Unit Description:
NICU:
-The level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a new 15-bed unit.
-The NICU can care for very preterm, 28 weeks gestation, to term infants that require additional support.
-The range of medical conditions include but are not limited to respiratory support, feeding assistance, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, glucose instability, and antibiotic therapy.
-NICU RNs attend all high-risk deliveries and assist with initial assessments as needed.
-Staff RNs provide evidence-based care and place special emphasis on skin-to-skin, breastfeeding, and safe sleep practices.
