Shift: Days, Evenings or overnights available. 

Location: Bronx or Manhattan, NY

The following specifications cover RN qualifications and duties for Metro New York DDSOO community sites throughout Manhattan and Bronx counties (Medically-Enhanced Locations). 

1. RN Duties to Be Performed
2. Provide skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing services.
3. Assess, plans and implements client care by following Plan of Care or Doctor's orders. Doctor's orders may consist of:
4. Dressing changes
5. Insertion and irrigation of urinary catheters
6. Oxygen administration by mask or cannula.
7. Tracheostomy care and endotracheal suctioning
8. Gastrostomy tube feedings
9. Gastrostomy/Jejunum tube medication and flushes.
10. SQ or IM injections
11. Insulin administration
12. Obtain Specimens
13. Nephrostomy tube flushes
14. Colostomy care and/or irrigation
15. Administers CPR and other emergency procedures as necessary.
16. Provide staff training and in-services
17. RN's may have to take the role of staff development nurse and nurses who perform episodic nurse duties in times of need.
18. RN's may need to step in and perform LPN duties when needed.
19. RN's need to Supervise all LPN's clinically.
20. There is a need for short term/short time nursing that would come under private duty nursing or visiting nurses. These nurses would perform specialized services such as Diabetes Care (injection of insulin), wound care (complex wounds/wound VAC/pressure ulcers), Tube feedings, Trach care and many short term services that take a few hours or less.
21. Completes all nursing tasks in a comprehensive and timely manner:
22. Completes assignments in an efficient manner and consistent with the time frames allotted.
23. Provides back up nursing coverage when primary nurse is off duty and contacts the home(s) to determine health care needs at least weekly.
24. Maintains a current Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual; ensures its accessibility to staff within assigned homes.
25. Maintains certification in CPR.
26. Maintains current RN license.
27. Maintains certification in Infection Control for Health Care Workers.
28. Completes all nursing tasks in a comprehensive and timely manner:
29. Completes assignments in an efficient manner and consistent with the time frames allotted.
30. Provides back up nursing coverage when primary nurse is off duty and contacts the home(s) to determine health care needs at least weekly.
31. Maintains a current Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual; ensures its accessibility to staff within assigned homes.
32. Maintains certification in CPR.
33. Maintains current RN license.
34. Maintains certification in Infection Control for Health Care Workers.
35. Provide nursing triage for non-medically enhanced residence during off hours.
36. Screen reported symptoms, assign a level of urgency, and direct appropriate action based on standardized triage protocols.
