Job Title: Surgical Technician – Main OR (CST)
Location: Hartford, CT
Contract Duration: 12 Weeks
Shift: PM Rotation (Flexible 8hr and 12hr shifts)

Job Summary
A premier Level 1 Trauma Center and 867-bed teaching hospital, is seeking a high-performing Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for our Main OR. This facility houses the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast. You will support a high-acuity environment where high-volume, complex cases are the standard. This role requires immediate proficiency across multiple advanced specialties, particularly supporting the trauma and transplant service lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Multidisciplinary Support: Scrub for a diverse array of cases including Robotics, Thoracic, Trauma, Transplant, Plastics, Oral, and Urology.
- Level 1 Trauma Response: Anticipate and respond to emergency high-acuity trauma cases, maintaining sterile field integrity under high-pressure scenarios.
- Robotic Assistance: Utilize specialized knowledge to assist in robotic-assisted minimally invasive procedures (primarily using da Vinci Xi/Xi platforms).
- Sterile Field Management: Maintain strict adherence to aseptic principles, ensuring all instrumentation and supplies are organized and ready before and during procedures.
- Call Rotation: Participate in a weekday overnight call rotation and every other holiday/weekend (EOH/EOW) as required by the unit schedule.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification: Must be NBSTSA Certified (CST). This is a hard requirement.
- Experience: * Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Tech experience in a high-volume OR.
- Travel Experience Required: Must have successfully completed at least one prior travel assignment.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven track record in robotics, thoracic, trauma, and transplant surgery.
- Skills: Expert knowledge of surgical instrumentation and the ability to anticipate surgeon needs in complex multi-specialty environments.
- Licensure: Completion of an accredited surgical technician program.
Assignment Details & Expectations
- Shift Information: Flexible schedule consisting of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts per week (40 hours total).
- Possible shift times: 11a-730p, 11a-1130p, 3p-1130p, 7p-730a, 11p-730a.
- Call Requirement: Yes, including weekday overnight rotations.
- Floating: May be required to float to similar surgical units within Hartford HealthCare as needed.
- Teaching Environment: Must be comfortable working in a teaching hospital alongside residents and fellows from UConn School of Medicine.
