Internal Job Description
***MED SOL INTERVIEW AND OFFER*** Telemetry Boise Hospital Flr 3 2 years experience required. Prior travel preferred, but not required. Tele 3 & 7 pool their staffing together to cover staffing needs, traveler will be expected to float between 3 & 7, as needed # of Beds "3rd Flr has 20 beds 7th Flr has 35 beds " Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:04 Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Common diagnoses/Types of patients "3rd Flr: Cardiac focus; Post op Procedural, post-op day1 open heart, TAVRs,ablations, post caths, pacemakders, & med tele 7th Flr: General Tele; post procedural overflow, CHF, sepsis, electolyte imbalances, post strokes, and more " Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have post procedural cardiac experience (cath lab, ablations, open heart) Prefer PCU and Stepdown experience, Must be able to read and interpret tele and document it appropriately " Are RNs required to titrate drips? "Heparin & Insulin (rare). Don't need experience with insulin, facility is willing to train if needed " Common titratable &/or set rate drips Set rate cardiac gtt, amio, cardizem, dopamine, & dobutamine Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? "Charge nurse on each unit, who doesn't take a patient assignment unless necessary.. Crisis & Resource nurse avialable in house, if needed" Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? "3rd Flr has 3 CNAs, 7th Flr has 5 CNAs Typical ratios are 1:8 depending on staffing and census" RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? RT available on each floor; can take high resp needs including intermittent high flow, bipap, & cpap- RT to manage; RT administers breathing treatments, RNs could be asked to assist if needed Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? "remote tele techs- located on 3rd floor; Nurses expected to read and interpret tele, 2x per shift " Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 7-7; Schedule is typically made out for 6 weeks at a time, Scheduler works with travelers to create schedule, Travelers are asked to stay flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling, block scheduling is not guarenteed (Max of 5 shifts in a row), Scheduler is mindful of trying to group days together for night shift. Weekend Requirement "5-6 weekend shifts in 6 week schedule. Days: Sat/Sun, Nights: Fri/Sat" Holiday Requirement May be asked to work Holidays, would not be expected to work every Holiday Is there Call or a Standby requirement? Not typically, more likely to float Floating Requirements Travelers are first to float; They can be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or Tele unit within the hospital and at their sister facilities- Meridian & Nampa. Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? Any color scrubs How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 2 shifts (1 on 3rd, 1 on 7th) Additional Notes Traveler friendly facility, leadership treats travelers like perm staff, and they have a lot of travelers who extend.
