Description

Key Responsibilities

Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under pathologist supervision
Prepare frozen and permanent sections for light microscopy
Ensure accurate specimen accessioning, labeling, and LIS documentation
Assist with frozen sections, staining, cover slipping, and decalcification
Troubleshoot and update Voice Recognition templates
Maintain gross room supplies and assist with inventory
Support post-mortem examinations as needed
Maintain communication with pathology and histology teams
Demonstrate safe use of grossing equipment (handsaw, cryostat, grossing table)

Requirements

New York State License – Required
BLS (AHA) – Required
Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related science
Completion of a Pathologists’ Assistant Program preferred
ASCP certification preferred
Minimum 1 year experience (2+ years preferred)
