Emergency Room Nurse 1 year exp required

Shift Information:

Days 10a-10p

 

Registered Nurse (RN) – Traveler / Contract Position

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current RN license in Maine or compact states.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (required)
    • ACLS (preferred)
  • Immunizations required:
    • Varicella: 2 doses or titer
    • HepB: 3 doses, titer, or declination only
    • MMR: 2 doses or titer
    • Tdap: current
    • PPD: 2-step or titer within past 12 months
    • Flu shot: required during flu season
  • Agency requirements:
    • W-9
    • Certificate of Insurance (COI) for Workers’ Compensation and Liability ($1M/$3M)

Credentials & Skills

  • BSN preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Nursing assessment skills across all age groups

Work Environment

  • Physical requirements: standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, reaching, balancing, lifting/pushing patients in wheelchairs/stretchers, lifting up to 30 lbs
  • Visual and hearing acuity sufficient to assess patients
  • Possible exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and cleaning chemicals

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate assessments
  2. Complete discharge assessments and plan of care
  3. Identify nursing priorities and implement patient care
  4. Communicate patient care and status with the healthcare team
  5. Document patient care per hospital standards
  6. Initiate specialty or supplemental nursing notes
  7. Assist with patient billing/charges
  8. Maintain safe physical environment and equipment
  9. Report safety or legal concerns promptly
  10. Implement procedures for internal/external disasters
  11. Administer medications following the “five rights”, monitor effects, and utilize drug references
  12. Provide patient/family education and ensure discharge understanding
  13. Conduct follow-up calls and ongoing nursing assessments
  14. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounding
  15. Promote the hospital professionally
  16. Engage in quality improvement initiatives
  17. Participate in emergency/disaster preparedness and response

Onboarding

  • Traveler will report to Human Resources on Day 1 for onboarding
