Unit IV Therapy Department – Vascular Access RN # of beds NA Ratios 2 RNs scheduled on dayshift Required Certifications RN License, prefer VABC Common diagnoses/Types of patients Tertiary hospital Experience or 'Must have' skills Strong peripheral IV skills, ability to place ultrasound IVs, access ports, central line dressing changes, ability to maintain sterile field, strong preference for PICC and midline placement skills Are RNs required to titrate drips? no Common titratable &/or set rate drips NA Charge Nurse/House Supervisor hospital supervisor on duty 24/7 Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios NA RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) NA Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? NA Shifts & Scheduling 0600-1830 Weekend Requirement every other weekend Holiday Requirement occasional Is there a call or standby requirement? no Floating Requirements no Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy scrubs preferred Unit/Department specific orientation will orient to IV therapy department and workflows Additional Notes Dedicated IV therapy position providing vascular access assessment and care.
