Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Medical Surgical unit for adult patients with various diagnoses such as sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and respiratory issues.
• Monitor and manage patients with complex conditions including central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize electronic health records systems, preferably EPIC, to document care.
• Assist with patient assessments, vital signs, medication administration, and patient mobility.
• Support patient comfort and safety, including operating telemonitoring equipment and managing ventilator and airway devices.
• Follow unit protocols for infection control, medication protocols, and documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience on a MedSurg floor, preferably in a level I trauma center and with EPIC EMR system
• Knowledge of central lines, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and titratable IV drips such as Heparin and Lasix
• Ability to work night shifts, scheduled 3 times per week

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Travel nursing experience or experience working in a trauma center
• EPIC EMR experience
• Managing patients with complex diagnoses like sepsis, uncontrolled diabetes, or acute respiratory failure
• Experience with telemonitoring systems and telemetry monitoring
