Description
Minimum Experience REQUIRED: 2 solid years Stepdown + 1 travel contract OR 5 years of solid Stepdown if no travel experience
Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)
Patient Population: Post procedure cardiac (cath/stents/interventions, pacers, ICD, ablation), Identify/care of STEMI/NSTEMI, Carotid endarterectomy, Sepsis, Neuro (CVAs, seizures, possible TBI), DKA.
Skillset: Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (TRAVELERS REQUIRED TO PASS TELE TESTS), post heart cath care (fem./TR bands), initiate/titrate drips (Cardizem, Amio, cardene, nitro, Insulin, Heparin), NIHSS/strong neuro assessments, sepsis care, chest tubes, PIV insertion. Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!
Unit Information: 19 beds, blended unit (8 designated Stepdown bed, 11 MS/T)
Ratio: Days 1:5-6; NOCs 1:4; CN will take patients. Stepdown RNs will take MS/T patients.
Unit Strengths: The manager opening this unit has been with Deaconess over 20+ years and had the lowest turnover in the organization for 2024.
