Travel RN – Progressive Care/Telemetry (IMCU)

Location: Pompton Plains, NJ
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 36 hours/week (3x12s)
Department: IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit)
 

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Care Planning

• Collect and document comprehensive health histories from patients and families.
• Complete timely admission assessments, including Braden Scale.
• Develop, implement, and revise individualized, age-appropriate plans of care.
• Continually reassess patient needs (biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, educational, discharge).
• Delegate and coordinate care using an interdisciplinary approach.

Telemetry & Cardiac Care

• Apply and manage telemetry monitoring equipment accurately.
• Interpret and document cardiac rhythms; communicate abnormalities promptly.
• Coordinate individualized arrhythmia parameters with Telemetry Technicians.
• Initiate chest pain protocol when indicated.
• Manage patients on high-risk IV cardiac medications.
• Assist with elective cardioversion procedures.
• Follow telemetry standing orders and monitor alarm settings appropriately.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate, timely, and policy-compliant documentation.
• Transcribe and verify physician orders correctly.
• Accept and document telephone orders per policy with read-back verification.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Health and regulatory standards.

Patient Education & Discharge Planning

• Initiate discharge planning upon admission.
• Provide age-appropriate patient and family education.
• Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings.
• Ensure safe, timely, and comfortable discharge processes.
• Document all teaching and discharge instructions thoroughly.

Required Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey RN License
• BLS Certification (Required)
• ACLS Certification (Required)
• PCCN (Preferred)
• 1–2 years of Cardiac/Telemetry experience
• 1–2 years of Acute Care experience
• Basic dysrhythmia interpretation required
• BSN preferred or currently enrolled in BSN program

Compensation Package (36 Hours)

• Gross Weekly Pay: $2,353
• Weekly Stipend: $1,561
• Estimated Taxable Rate (W2): $22/hr
