Description

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts
Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician (Allied)
Shift: 8-hour Days (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Shift Type: 8hr Days
Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: 03/09/2026
On-Call: No on-call requirement

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) OR Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a busy outpatient clinic setting

Key Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by Ophthalmologists.
Triage telephone issues and document in patient charts.
Open/close and clean examination rooms.
Perform specialized testing: Visual field testing, A-scan, Corneal topography.
Conduct accurate refractions.
Complete thorough medical work-ups (medical history, chief complaint, medication review, visual acuity, intraocular pressure).
Assist with fundus photography and preparation of fluorescein syringes.
Maintain equipment sterility and ensure biomedical reviews are up to date.
Assist Ophthalmologists with minor procedures and laser surgery.
Prioritize tasks, organize daily work, and exercise good judgment.

Local Candidate can also apply. Hourly rate $35-$43 per hour on W2.
