Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT)
Location: Jackson, MS
Contract Duration: 12 Weeks (03/09/2026 – 06/06/2026)
Shift: Night Shift (18:45 – 07:15) | 36 Hours Guaranteed
Unit: Respiratory Therapy
Job Summary
Level III Trauma Center and leading provider of cardiovascular and burn care in the state, is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for its night shift team. This role is essential for supporting a facility that houses a dedicated Burn Center and comprehensive ICU/CCU services. You will provide critical respiratory support, from routine nebulizer treatments to managing advanced mechanical ventilation for high-acuity patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Ventilation: Manage and troubleshoot invasive and non-invasive ventilators for patients in critical care and the burn unit.
- Emergency Response: Act as a key member of the Code Blue and Rapid Response teams, providing airway management and manual resuscitation.
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform and interpret Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) samples and bedside pulmonary function tests.
- Burn & Trauma Support: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary burn team to provide specialized respiratory care for thermal, chemical, and electrical injury patients.
- Patient Assessment: Utilize physical examination techniques (auscultation, percussion) and clinical data to adjust care plans based on patient response.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic medical records using the Epic EMR system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification: * RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) credentialed by the NBRC.
- Experience: * Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience in a hospital setting.
- Experience in critical care (ICU/CCU) or burn units is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Mississippi State Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
- Certifications: * BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA preferred)
Assignment Details & Expectations
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week (18:45 – 07:15) /
AM (06:45 - 19:15). - Weekend/Holiday: Requirement of every other weekend. All holidays falling within the 12-week agreement are required unless pre-approved.
- On-Call: No on-call requirement for this assignment.
- Facility Address: 1225 N State St, Jackson, MS 39202.
Clinical Spotlight: Airway Anatomy & Management
In a high-acuity environment like MBHS, rapid and effective airway management is a primary responsibility for the RRT, especially during intubation or stabilization of trauma patients.
