Unit: Pediatrics B4 – Hematology/Oncology
Location:, Des Moines, IA
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours: 36 hours per week
On-Call: None
Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend, including holiday rotation
Floating: May float to ED for inpatient holds
Position Summary
- Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pediatrics B4 Hematology/Oncology unit.
- The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to pediatric patients with hematology and oncology conditions.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients.
- Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment implementation.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress and respond to clinical changes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
- Float to Emergency Department (ED) for inpatient holds as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 24 months of Pediatric and/or Oncology nursing experience (Required)
- Active Iowa (IA) RN license or Compact/Multistate license at time of submission (Required)
- AHA or ARC BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification (Required)
- AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification (Required)
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) Certification (Required)
- Skills Checklist specific to Pediatrics and/or Oncology (Required)
Certifications & Licensure
