Unit Overview

Start Date: 3/16/26
Assignment Length: 16 weeks
EPIC: 100% required

Unit Layout & Patient Load

Labor & Delivery Beds: 11
OR Suites: 2
Triage Beds: 4
Postpartum Beds: 25
Births: 220 per month (~7–8 per day)
Staffing Ratios: Goal to meet AWHONN guidelines

Certifications & Skills

Required: NRP, BLS, ACLS (beginning Jan 2023)
Experience: Circulate in the OR, titrate drips
Common Drips: Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Insulin

Staffing & Coverage

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both roles present
Support Staff: 2 surgical techs 24/7, LPNs (2 days / 1 night)
OB/Neonatologist: In-house 24/7
Anesthesia: 24-hour coverage
RT Equipment: None
Telemetry: None; RNs read EFM strips
EFM System: Obix

Shifts & Scheduling

Shift Length: 12 hours (7–7:30)
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Holiday Requirement: Yes
Call/Standby: Not required for travel RNs
Floating: Float to postpartum as needed

Dress Code

Scrubs: Navy blue
Additional Gear: Jackets and scrubs provided by hospital

Patient Population

Common Diagnoses: Active labor, postpartum care, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes (GDM)
