Neuro/Surgical ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift: Nights | 3x12s (7:00 PM – 7:15 AM)
Hours: 35.25 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Charting System: EPIC
Scrubs: Navy Blue
Locals: Accepted
 

Patient Ratios

• ICU: 1:1–1:3 (critical care)
• If Floated: 1:4–6+ (based on acuity)
• Must float within skillset (not a float pool)

Required Experience (1.5+ Years Acute Care)

• Neuro ICU and/or SICU
• Strong EKG interpretation skills
• Pulmonary Artery Line / Swan Ganz monitoring
• TAVR/TAVI
• IV insulin protocols
• CVVHD / CRRT
• Lumbar drains
• External Ventricular Drains (EVD)
• Ventilator management
• Strong IV skills

Preferred Experience

• IABP
• Impella
• LVAD
• Trauma Level I

Required Certifications

• Active NJ RN License or Compact License (at submission)
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Stroke CEUs
• All certifications required at submission

Clinical Skills Required

• Titration of cardiac & vasoactive drips
• Continuous IV sedation & paralytics
• ICP monitoring
• Hypothermia protocol (Arctic Sun)
• ABG interpretation
• Arterial line management
• Central line/PICC management
• Blood product administration
• Procedural sedation
• Ventilator & BiPAP/CPAP management
• Infection prevention & isolation precautions
