Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Days – 13 Weeks
Start Date: 03/09/2026 Shift: 5×8 Days (07:30–16:00) Location: Arlington, VA
Position Overview
A busy nuclear medicine department is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist for weekday day‑shift coverage. This role includes general nuclear medicine studies, cardiac imaging, PET/CT, and EPT/CT. Independent work is essential. Seasoned travelers are preferred, but highly experienced first‑time travelers may be considered.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years Nuclear Medicine Tech experience
- Must be able to work independently
- Strong proficiency across general and cardiac nuclear medicine procedures
Certifications
- NMTCB (required)
- ARRT (N) preferred
- AHA BLS
Licensure
- Virginia license
- OR proof of application + proof of active license in another state
General Skills Required
- IV starts
- Phlebotomy
- EKGs
- PACS experience
Nuclear Medicine Procedure Experience Required
- Cardiac
- Bone scans
- Brain scans
- Lung scans (V/Q)
- Renal flow
- Thyroid studies
- SPECT
- Myocardial imaging
Additional Requirements
- EPIC Radiology CT online training (completed on unit)
- Seasoned travelers preferred; strong first‑timers considered
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1–Mar 31)
- Scrub color: Pewter Grey
Department Details
- Daily Caseload: 15–18
- Rooms: 4 + PET/CT
- Patient Ages: Adolescents through geriatrics
- Work Setting: Hospital-based nuclear medicine
Job Duties
- Prepare, measure, and administer radioactive isotopes
- Perform therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies
- Prepare stock solutions and calculate doses
- Operate nuclear medicine and PET/CT equipment
- Ensure radiation safety for patients and staff
- Collaborate with radiologists and clinical teams
Scheduling
- Shift: 07:30–16:00
- Schedule: Monday–Friday
- Call Requirements:
- One night per week
- One weekend per month
- Call hours:
- Mon–Fri: 17:30–06:30
- Sat–Sun: 24‑hour coverage
