Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Seneca, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend coverage every other weekend
- Call and float required (floating limited to qualified units with documented competencies)
Unit & Patient Care
- Labor and Delivery with nursery responsibilities (LDRP)
- Baby Friendly Facility
- Nurses are cross-trained in labor and delivery, circulator role, acute care nursery, OB triage, and GYN surgery patients
- Nurses perform their own hearing screenings
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:1 with labor patients
- 1:2 with cytotec inductions
- 1:1 with magnesium sulfate patients
- 1:3 with couplet (mother-baby) care
- 1:1 if baby goes to sick nursery
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with infant, maternal-fetal, and neonate patients
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic charting system
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by AHA or ARC
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – AWHONN required as applicable
- Lactation Certification (valid for Baby Friendly Facility)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 12 months including 7-year history and alias searches
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within last 10 years (required for certain high-risk areas)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved exemption (not required for 100% remote)
- Photo for badge (passport style, light background, no obstructions)
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment
- Pass/Fail Testing (Medication and Arrhythmia exams) required prior to start
- Annual competency exams and core training (Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% passing score
- HIPAA and OSHA training acknowledgment
Additional Notes
- Floating policy must be signed and adhered to
- Facility is latex-free; latex allergies are acceptable
- Fit testing for respirators will be completed onsite during orientation
- Medication system used: Omnicell
This position offers a comprehensive orientation and training program designed to support nurses in delivering high-quality care in a specialized labor and delivery setting.
