Job Summary
- The Registered Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with departmental, organizational, and industry standards.
- This role utilizes imaging technology, computer systems, and related equipment to produce and retain accurate diagnostic images.
- The technologist demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, imaging techniques, radiation safety, and quality assurance standards. This position requires a patient-centered approach, ensuring appropriate communication, safety, and education tailored to all age groups.
- The Radiologic Technologist also supports clinical education by overseeing and training students in patient care and imaging procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiologic procedures using imaging and computer equipment to produce high-quality images.
- Ensure imaging meets or exceeds department, organizational, and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, and image quality.
- Prepare and assess patients prior to procedures; explain procedures and address questions or concerns.
- Apply age-appropriate communication and care based on developmental and safety needs.
- Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Operate imaging equipment safely and effectively, ensuring proper patient positioning and technique selection.
- Follow infection control, quality control, and safety standards at all times.
- Monitor and evaluate image quality to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Provide guidance, supervision, and training to students during clinical rotations.
- Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in general radiology.
- Experience working with pediatric patients preferred.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- ARRT (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Registered)
- State Radiologic Technologist License (KY license required prior to start)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
