Radiation Therapist
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation treatments in accordance with the prescription and direction of the Radiation Oncologist. This role ensures accurate treatment delivery while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately deliver prescribed radiation therapy with minimal supervision
Verify patient identity, treatment plan, and setup prior to each session
Prepare treatment room and radiation equipment for daily procedures
Monitor patients during treatment and recognize signs of complications
Notify physician or nurse promptly if adverse reactions occur
Educate patients on:
Treatment procedures
Communication methods during therapy
Emergency protocols
Reinforce Radiation Oncologist’s guidance regarding treatment reactions and self-care
Perform quality assurance checks on all treatment plans prior to therapy
Conduct daily image fusion (when applicable) to verify accurate treatment field alignment
Fabricate and apply custom immobilization devices to ensure precise daily positioning
Adhere to radiation safety principles for patients, staff, and self
Perform daily QA checks on radiation delivery equipment
