Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC / Stepdown / PCU
Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 Days (06:45 – 19:15)
Schedule: Every other weekend required
Location: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center (562 beds)
Charting System: Cerner
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IMC/Stepdown/PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills in telemetry, cardiac care, and neuro stepdown, and be comfortable managing complex patient populations.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience (IMC/Stepdown/PCU required)
- Active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
- BLS and NIH certifications required
- ACLS preferred
- No first-time travelers
- Must be willing to float within scope as needed
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Day shift: 06:45 – 19:15
- Option for 3x12 or 4x12 schedule
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling: case-by-case basis
- Local candidates accepted (no radius restriction)
- Up to 5 days RTO preferred
Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities
Cardiac & Monitoring Skills:
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Continuous telemetry monitoring
- Rapid Response Team participation
- Pre/Post cardiac cath, MI, angiogram, and cardiac surgery care
- Sheath removal and TR band management
Neurological Care:
- Stroke (CVA), craniotomy, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury
- Pre/Post neurosurgical care
Respiratory Care:
- Ventilator management and tracheostomy care
- CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and non-invasive airway management
- Chest tube management
- ABG interpretation
IV Therapy & Medications:
- Central lines, PICC lines, arterial lines
- Blood product administration
- IV starts and port access
- Heparin protocols
- Cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration required)
- PCA and procedural sedation
Additional Clinical Skills:
- Feeding tube management
- Hemodialysis (pre/post care)
- Wound care and wound vacs
- Isolation precautions
Other Specialty Experience:
- Orthopedics: trauma, joint replacements, nerve block catheters
- Surgical: skin grafts, drains
