Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - Vascular

Location: New Bern, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

• Evening shift: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
• Rotating call: 7 days every 4 weeks
• Weekend shifts: once every 4 weeks
• Weekend hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Unit Information

• Average daily census: 23 patients
• Visits per day: 9
• Rooms/Beds: 3/3
• Patient population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
• Staffing ratios: 1:3 on days, 1:1 on weekends
• Unit systems: Medstreaming
• Scrubs: Green (not provided)

Special Procedures / Equipment

• 3 private RVT rooms
• O.R. experience with Carotid Endarterectomy
• Must be adaptable to fluid environment and changes
• Equipment: Philips Epiq Elite x4, Viasonix Falcon Pro x2

Required Certifications

• ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of specialty experience required, 10+ years preferred
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Work settings experience: Adult, ER, ICU, Portables
• EPIC HR system experience preferred

Vascular Skills Required

• Aorta imaging
• Arterial graft studies
• Arterial mapping
• Carotid imaging
• Color flow Doppler studies
• Duplex scanning
• Lower extremity arterial/venous studies
• Renal artery duplex
• Upper extremity arterial/venous studies

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Ultrasound Technologist license in North Carolina
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
• Ultrasound Technologist experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• BLS certification
• ARDMS certification
• Experience working with Adolescent, Geriatric, Pediatric, and Neonate patients
• Experience in Arterial Graft Studies
• Experience in Arterial Mapping
• Experience in Carotid imaging
• Experience in Color Flow Doppler studies
• Experience in Doppler studies
• Experience in Duplex scanning

Additional Requirements

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID carried during hours of service
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, social security trace, sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, and education verification as applicable
• Drug screening (9 panel) within one year of start
• Physical exam within last 12 months
• Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers: Tdap (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines or positive titers required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of positive TB
• Seasonal flu vaccine or documented exemption required during flu season
• COVID vaccination status requested but not required
• Two professional references within 12 months, including at least one from a supervisor or charge nurse
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, updated annually
