Description

• Hematology/Oncology Clinic attached to Rapid City Hospital

• Unit Information:


• Beds: 24 rooms in clinic
• Average patients/day? 250 patients through the clinic per day

• Minimum Years of Experience required? 2+ years of outpatient or ambulatory oncology experience. Will not accept just acute oncology experience

• Will you accept a first-time traveler? No, at least 1 year of travel experience

• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
• Adults only - hematology and oncology patients.

• Will see patients with all types of cancers - solid tumor, hematology, GYN, brain, etc. Must be comfortable with all.

• Will be partnered with 1-2 physicians. Will have 2-3 patients per day to provide education to, as well as other duties.

• Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.):
• BLS required

• ONS or OCN preferred

• Skills required:
• 90% of job will be phone triaging and in-basket management - will handle prescription refills, patient questions, lab reviews, scheduling, etc. Will be frequently speaking with insurance companies, physicians, drug companies, etc.

• Must be comfortable providing patient education for oral chemotherapy and knowledgeable on IV chemotherapy (will not administer meds here)

• Must be comfortable working independently

• EPIC is mandatory. Need to have at least 1 year of recent EPIC experience. Ambulatory EPIC experience highly preferred, but ok with regular EPIC.

• Support within the Department:
• 3 radiation oncologists

• 1 GYN oncologist

• 7 Med Oncologist

• 6 APPS

• Pharmacist in the office that helps with oral chemotherapy. Will join the RN for education

• CAs/MAs in the clinic

• Scheduling support

• 1 other navigator available to support

• Management available as needed

• 65 total RNs/LPNs total in clinic

• Technology/Equipment:
• EMR: EPIC - required (see requirements above)

• Floating: If yes, where?
• No

• Orientation (facility and unit) :
• NEO

• Remainder of first week will be orientation

• Scheduling:
• Weekend rotation: None

• On call? No

• Holiday Expectations: closed on major holidays

• Approval of RTO: to go through manager

• Shift times: Monday - Friday, 0800-1630

• Other notes:
• Scrub Color: Navy blue scrubs or business casual

• Parking: Free
