Sterile Processing Technician

Position Overview
We are seeking 4 Sterile Processing Technicians (Medical Supply Technicians – SPS) to support the Sterile Processing Services (SPS) department at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX.
Technicians will support minimally invasive surgical (MIS) procedures and reprocess instrumentation for:
- Main Operating Room
- Urology Clinic
- ENT Clinic
- Speech Pathology
- Anesthesia
- Cardiology Cath Lab
- Pulmonary Bronchoscopy Lab
All services must be performed onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments
- Reprocessing of MIS instrumentation and peel packs
- High-Level Disinfection (HLD) processing
- Support approximately 55,000 sterilization cycles (estimated volume)
- Adhere to all federal, VA, and regulatory compliance standards
- Follow SPS department protocols and documentation procedures
Work Schedule
Up to 40 hours per week (Sunday–Saturday).
Available shifts include:
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
- 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
- 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
