Sterile Processing Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking 4 Sterile Processing Technicians (Medical Supply Technicians – SPS) to support the Sterile Processing Services (SPS) department at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Technicians will support minimally invasive surgical (MIS) procedures and reprocess instrumentation for:

  • Main Operating Room
  • Urology Clinic
  • ENT Clinic
  • Speech Pathology
  • Anesthesia
  • Cardiology Cath Lab
  • Pulmonary Bronchoscopy Lab

All services must be performed onsite.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments
  • Reprocessing of MIS instrumentation and peel packs
  • High-Level Disinfection (HLD) processing
  • Support approximately 55,000 sterilization cycles (estimated volume)
  • Adhere to all federal, VA, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Follow SPS department protocols and documentation procedures

Work Schedule

Up to 40 hours per week (Sunday–Saturday).
Available shifts include:

  • 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
  • 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
  • 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
  • 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
