Position Summary

• The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for delivering safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care to a designated group of patients in an acute inpatient setting.
• The RN ensures high-quality clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and adherence to evidence-based practice standards.
• Working within a Practice Governance framework and guided by the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans while promoting patient comfort, education, and safety.
• The RN also supervises licensed and unlicensed personnel and contributes to maintaining a financially responsible and compliant unit environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment

• Perform comprehensive assessments and reassessments per policy or as patient condition warrants.
• Demonstrate sound independent clinical decision-making skills.

Care Planning & Implementation

• Develop, prioritize, and implement individualized care plans.
• Revise care plans based on patient response and clinical findings.
• Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Utilize organizational resources efficiently to support patient care.

Evaluation & Clinical Monitoring

• Monitor patient responses to clinical interventions.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Patient & Family Education

• Provide and coordinate education specific to patient and family needs.
• Deliver discharge education to ensure safe transitions of care.

Leadership & Professional Practice

• Delegate tasks appropriately to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
• Serve as mentor and preceptor to nursing staff.
• Promote teamwork and effective communication.
• Identify improvement opportunities and participate in quality, safety, and service initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
• Actively participate in Practice Governance initiatives.
